Frequently Asked Questions
What if I feel uncomfortable contacting you?
You are in good company. It's always a little difficult to start something new particularly something so personal and important. Rest assured that everything is absolutely 100% confidential. You can share as little or as much as you want. The feedback from my clients is that people feel immediately at ease when they talk to me - this can be the most important step towards the life that you want. I believe that people do the best with the resources that they have available to them at that time, there is no judgement.
Will you make me do something with which I am not comfortable?
There is absolutely no need to worry – you will be fully in control at all times. Think of it like a deep daydream and, as with daydreaming, you still retain control, in fact, in hypnosis you will experience being in more control than you may have previously experienced. No hypnotherapist can make you do, say, feel or think anything you don’t want to.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a very pleasant, relaxed state in which you are more aware of your internal experience than the world around you – it feels similar to that day-dreaming feeling when you get really absorbed in a book, a hobby or watching TV. All people will experience it slightly differently. Some will find it deeply, physically relaxing others will find it a creative and dream-like experience, some will feel quite conscious during the session while others may slip into a light state of sleep. There is no right or wrong, but most people agree that hypnotherapy is one of the most deeply relaxing experiences imaginable.
How long before I notice change?
It depends from person to person, but many people start experiencing the benefits immediately. Some people even notice positive change in areas of their life that they weren’t even expecting. Trust the process and watch your life transform before your eyes.
Is Hypnosis the same as meditation?
No it is not, there are many methods of meditation including focusing the mind on an object, such as a flower, a candle, a sound or word, or the breath. This focus on an object brings the mind to the state where other thoughts and feelings are enhanced. Research has shown people in hypnosis show that the brain activation seen in hypnosis is different from that seen in meditation.
In what areas can hypnotherapy be used?
Any person suffering from any degree of emotional or physical “dis-ease” can benefit from Clinical Hypnotherapy. The problems treatable through hypnosis are equally diversified. Although hypnosis is commonly associated with habit sensation (losing weight, quitting smoking, etc.), almost any area treatable by conventional means can be enhanced through the use of hypnosis. The well-trained clinician, using hypnotherapy can help clients suffering from the following:
Anger, Anxieties, Breathing Disorders, Confidence, Exam Nerves, Exam performance, Goal Setting, Trauma, Headaches, Insomnia, Memory Enhancement, Mood Swings, Obsessive / Compulsive Behaviours, Over Eating, Pain Control, Panic Attacks, Personal Growth, Phobias, Public Speaking, Relationships, Relaxation, Releasing Resentments, Sleep Disorders, Smoking Cessation, Stress relief, Study Recall, Stuttering.
What happens in the session?
A clinical hypnotherapist uses hypnosis to enable the client to achieve a state of mental, physical and emotional relaxation. When in hypnosis, the conscious mind (that busy, critical, analytical part of the mind) takes a rest. Hypnosis allows people to tap into the subconscious mind, sometimes referred to as the unconscious, mind and make positive changes to thought patterns, habits or the effects of traumatic incidents that are having a negative impact either mentally or physically.
What is the cancellation policy?
We allow clients to cancel 24 hours prior to a session. We want you to commit to your sessions, this is why we have placed a cancellation policy. Any appointments cancelled after the 24 hour time limit will be charged at the full fee.
Is there a payment plan option?
Yes, you can choose a fortnightly or monthly repayment plan that will be deducted from a nominated bank account of your choice.
